FMV Guidelines

Fan Music Video Contest Rules:

  1. Each individual is limited to 3 entries.
  2. It goes without saying; videos must be created by the one who submits them. Submitting another person’s video will result in the one who submitted the video being disqualified from the competition whether or not permission was given or it was requested as a favor.
  3. The maximum length of FMV’s is 5 minutes.
  4. All videos should contain at least 75% footage from an anime/game/movie/show with at least 75% of the entire video set to music.
  5. Please do not include watermarks, bugs, intro’s/exits, and text that is not relevant to the video (ie: subtitles, credits, ect.), as your video may be disqualified. We also request bumpers not be included as they will be generated for each entry for screening and showing.
  6. Videos may also be disqualified if they are deemed inappropriate for a general audience by including excessive violence, excessive foul language, graphic sexual content, or excessive nudity.
  7. Videos must be received by the due date, not postmarked by then. Videos will not be accepted at the con. Send videos to: SpoCon; PO Box 48790; Spokane, WA 99208
  8. Videos must be sent in with entry information which will consist of: Real name of creator(s), Video title, Titles of source footage up to 10 separate items (more than that please say various), Song title and artist, Length of video, and Category (see below).
  9. Videos should have a frame rate of 29.95 and minimum dimensions of 640x480.
  10. Acceptable video formats: avi, wmv, mpeg, mpeg-1, mpeg-2 (note: they have to be playable on basic windows media player)
  11. Acceptable Video Codecs: Cinepak, DV, MPEG-1, MPEG-4, Windows Media Video (again has to be playable on windows media player)
  12. Unacceptable video formats: real media formats (rm, ram, rv) and authored DVD, as in DVD videos, or a disc made playable on all DVD players (vob).
  13. Audio quality should be no lower than 44,100 Hz (44.1kHz) dual channel, stereo. Acceptable Audio Codecs: IMA ADPCM, Microsoft ADPCM, Microsoft PCM, Windows Media Audio, MP3
