I like to call this section of a forum "The Ways to Crash Land." These are ways for you to earn yourself a vacation from the SpoCon forums, or at least to get your posts edited by a moderator. Technically there should be Thirty-one ways to crash land, but we'll settle on seventeen for now. We're just not quite as strict as the Mobile Infantry, but close enough.

  • Keep it legal. Don't post anything unlawful, libelous or that infringes upon any intellectual property rights.
  • Don't disparage any religion, race, nation, gender or sexual orientation.
  • Don't use your post or signature to attack or insult someone.
  • Don't turn your disagreement into an attack on another person or group.
  • Don't engage in name-calling, harassment or threats.
  • Don't post anything that contains obscenity, vulgarity, profanity or sexual content.
  • Don't infringe upon another person's privacy rights.
  • Don't post anything off-topic for the forum you are in.
  • Don't cross-post the same topic to multiple forums or post the same message to multiple threads.
  • Don't "reserve" post. Say what you want to say now or wait to post.
  • Don't be a troll. "Trolling" is defined as: Posting with the intent of stirring up trouble or to incite disruption. An example of trolling would be posting to a thread without the intent to provide constructive suggestions or comments and instead making disruptive comments.
  • Don't use the forums to discuss private issues. If you have an issue with another member or group, take it up with them personally.
  • Don't advertise websites with content that violates these rules.
  • Do not advertise for any website product, group, organization, etc. that are unrelated to the sci-fi/fantasy genres or is posted in a way that cannot be justified by normal forum behavior.
  • Do not post or place in a signature material that promotes the use of, demonstrates, or endorses illegal substances as determined by substance abuse laws in the State of Washington.
  • Do not begin or take part in political discussions in ANY forum. This also includes signature images on the forums; please do not use your signature to endorse a political candidate.
  • Do not make posts that inquire about, contain the same information as, or comment on other removed, edited, or locked posts/topics

Consequences for violating these guidelines include, but are not limited to editing of post, signature, or avatar. Removal of the ability to have a signature, deletion or locking of the violating post or thread, site suspension at the discretion of the moderator, permanent banishment at the discretion of the community team. In extreme cases, future SpoCon membership may also be revoked or denied as per guidelines laid out by the SpoCon ConCom. In even more extreme cases, legal action may be taken and/or authorities informed about illegal activity posted by forum members. Those who violate the rules may or may not receive any warning before action is taken. In the event that a warning is given, it will be logged by the web team and may result in further action should the user show a pattern of engaging in prohibited content.

So what it all boils down to is "use some common sense" and we'll all have a great forum experience together. :)
