Anime
Now, I've been in discussion with Eelie a little bit about this. Now I only went to one anime convention and that was last year at Sakura Con. I was not impressed with the anime at all last year so I am trying my best to improve it for this year. I understand that SpoCon has origins surrounding science fiction and fantasy. To help SpoCon to ease into the world of anime, I have been thinking about different anime that would fit genres of science fiction and fantasy. I believe that we should get a fine mix of anime. Popular is good, but it is also nice to get a selection in there to balance it out. I currently have 100 gigs of anime currently. Here's what I have that I have considered for SpoCon 2009 so far.
Monster
Eureka Seven
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Ouran High School Host Club
Gundam 00
Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory
Gundam Wing Endless Waltz
I believe that anime will bring in a lot of revenue for the con for years to come. I am going to speak to friends from Sakura con and friends who have been to Anime Expo. So I will keep you all updated

I sent an email to Megan, but what do you guys think of this? Megan owns some of this, I own some of this and my friend, Michael has all the rest.
Okay I have enough anime here picked out for two anime show rooms. One that is more kid friendly and one that is more for the adult audience. I was thinking of showing six episodes each. That should be enough for a whole weekend.
Anime room 1
Monster
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Gundam 00
Gravitation
Mai-Hime
Beck
Witch Hunter Robin
Ouran High School Host Club
Kenichi Strongest Disciple
Akira
Gantz
Animatrix
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Witch Hunter Robin
Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
Full Metal Panic
Brigadoon
Bleach
Bleach Movies
Black Cat
Samurai Deeper Kyo
Ayane's High Kick
Desert Punk
Anime Room 2
Clannad
Marmalade Boy
Azumanga Daioh
Lucky Star
Naruto
Naruto Time Skip
Naruto Movies
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
Pokemon Movies
Digimon
Angelic Layer
Piano
SuperGALS
Negima
One Piece
YuGiOh
Eureka Seven
So there's two rooms right there. Perhaps we can open a third room on occasion for things like Anime Jeopardy that Megan wants to do as well as AMV making workshops. (Perhaps have a third room for AMV's altogether?) Megan, my friend Micheal, me, and Megan's friend should be able to oversee all of this.

Have all the peeps interested in Anime spoke to Nick the Programming Director about panels?

Chris said that he would get him to call me about that.

Hey. I think it will work only problem is that in the friendly room we prolly don't want to show too much of a certain anime at the same time... If someone does this they should keep it so that people are not stuck watching 5 pokemon movies in a row.
Eelie
*sigh* as of yet, we only have two rooms. Anime Jeopardy won't be happening unless I get a lot of people interested in helping trying to make questions that are fun for the participants and any audience we may get.
Don't worry. No way there'll be repeats/a bunch of pokemon movies in a row. We'll try to keep it with variety. Since we have to turn projectors off between showings there can be chat time in between. I may or may not do an anime meet and greet panel/time.

anime jeopardy??? would it have prizes???? Could we have a kid section for people who want to participate but might not be old enough to be asked questions from mature animes??? Would the questions also include manga??? How many questions would you need. How would you seperate the different types of anime??? Do you want to use questions from just popular anime, or would you want questions from random anime?? Do you want to have questions based around the anime that has been prepared for the con?? Sorry I always have loads of questions.
Also I was not worried about repeats. I just wanted to know if we are going to show all six anime episodes in a row or separate them into shorter groups of three anime episodes to show people the basics of each anime and have the other 3 episodes later... I mean if we have 6 episodes in a row there will be less people coming in and out... The average person coming to the con prolly wont want to spend 3 hours watching the same anime, and people just jumping from room to room won't want to just jump 5 episodes into a series where they might not understand the story. I mean I am an anime lover and I personally wouldn't want to be stuck waiting 3 hours just to be able to skip a show I hate...
Final thing for now... I would like to add Yakitaki Japan to the list of anime.. I believe it would make a good find... It is strange, but funny enough that I think people at the con would like it..
Also if anyone reading this would like to add suggestions just put them in the comments here and I will see if the anime you suggested is easily available to watch...
Sorry the real final thing.. I know it is the anime room, but could we watch live action movies also.. I would like to put the Death Note live action movie up, but I am not sure if you want stuff like this to be added...

We are looking at having a "movie" room of sorts that is not the Anime room -- more on this later as we get the Programming info updated. Part of the issue is that we have to wait for GU for a little bit longer so we know what rooms we'll be able to use and when as they finalize the Summer schedule. Not really and issue as we have been aware of it and have planned accordingly.
Thank you for your input too! It's always appreciated when our members let us know what they would like to see happen at SpoCon.

Hey,
I have 3 rooms for Anime, panels...etc.
Someone should shoot me a message if we need more.
And I heard a rumor about a HotakuCon after SpoCon SCC.... should just get them to come to SpoCon and I can give space.
Let me know who all is working on stuff. (Need to schedule main movie programs for Wolffe, and Fanfilms)

Ok I just got off the phone with the comic book club adivisor. He gave me the activities head's number which is 533-8606 - Ally Minmann. I left her a message and I am waiting for her to call me back. The advisor thinks that integrating the cons were a good idea. So, so far so good. I will keep you guys updated

Keep me up to date.
I think the only drawback is they had a $2 entry fee which would be upped to our $30.
If they want they can contact me, I'm guessing I would have to program extra Anime panels and such.

Another Update!!
Okay I just got off the phone with Ally. She is happy with the idea as well and will email me her contact information. She will speak with the club members involved with the Otaku Con at SCC. However she had a question that I am unsure of how to answer.
They already had one day where they sold pre-registery badges of sorts. So what should we do for those who already prepaid the $2 of the Otaku Con?
Big C Chris Snell
I rec'd an email from Michelle Ropp ... Head of the OtakuCon Committee ... she was very nice and eager to work together

So it looks like we might work something out in meshing the two cons together?

So, basically I didn't really have any true 'prizes' for it. The questions could be anything, the only thing one would need to consider is making it both interesting for the contestants and the audience. Like jeopardy they'd have to be separated by difficulty and category depending on the maker. There'd have to be everything from simple questions everyone could answer to harder ones that someone still might know.
The projectors just need to be turned off for a few minutes between showings. I was actually planning to block out 2 hrs or so for each show and show the first 3 episodes. It's more a chance for someone to watch some/the beginning of a show and see if it might interest them rather than show all of it so they can watch. Which is also why we want some variety.
I'm not sure how popular many of the live actions are, but depending on what we schedule (from the mountain to consider) I'll think about it. Either that, or talk to whoever is in charge of the movie room and submit the idea to them.
