SpoCon 2012 Writing Contest

Welcome!

For SpoCon 2012, the League of Extraordinary Writers is offering several opportunities. We invite all high school writers to enter our Student Contest, and adults to enter our General Contest.

We have two categories in each contest:

• Flash Fiction (1500 words or less)
• Short Story (1501-5000 words)

This year's deadline is June 15, 2012. You'll find submission details on the printable entry form attached below. While it's free to enter the contest, you must be registered for SpoCon 2012 to be eligible for the prizes. You can pre-register online or submit your registration with your submission.

Both contests are open to any author who's submitted work is unpublished*. Every accepted entrant will receive two of the judges' critiques, which is useful for any writer.

Finalists who attend SpoCon will receive a special ribbon for their name badge, giving them high visibility to authors during the convention. They're also invited to attend the Authors' Reception at the convention.

Awards are as follows:
First Place - Full editing services for the submission and the The Prolific Pen Award, given in recognition of the many words an author writes while in search of the perfect one.
Second Place - An autographed novel from Guest of Honor.

At SpoCon 2012, you'll have the opportunity to learn from popular published authors through panels, workshops and other programming. Our sister conventions, RadCon and MisCon, offer similar opportunities for improving your craft.

*By submitting, you are stating that you are the sole author of the work and that it has not been previously published. Works that are self-published, posted on blogs, message boards, personal websites, etc. all count as previously published material. In addition, any submission that has been previously sold or has been awarded a prize of $100 or more in any writing competition is also considered published.
