Spocon writing contest

SpoCon is excited to announce the resurrection of our annual writing contest for 2017!

Good feedback is invaluable to writers, so all entrants will receive comment sheets from at least two judges and an opportunity to have a one-on-one feedback session with a professional writer at SpoCon.

Finalists will be announced prior to the convention. Winners will be announced at Opening Ceremonies on Aug. 11.

Categories are:

  • Flash Fiction: 1,500 or fewer words
  • Short Story: between 1,501 and 5,000 words

You may submit one entry to each category.

We'll be awarding first and second place in each category.

First-place winners in each category will receive:

  • a first-place badge ribbon
  • an invitation to the Writers Reception following Opening Ceremonies
  • a signed book from our writing Guest of Honor
  • a certificate for free copy editing and proof reading to help get your story submission-ready

Second-place winners in each category will receive:

  • a second-place badge ribbon
  • an invitation to the Writers Reception
  • a signed book from our writing Guest of Honor

We want you to be able to submit your stories to other contests and professional publications. Therefore, we will not be publishing your stories anywhere, as that can greatly limit your future options. You retain full rights.

No entry fee, but proof of registration to SpoCon 2017 is required.
